RALEIGH — Four people were killed in a one-vehicle crash on U.S. 701 North near the Bladen-Sampson counties line early Sunday morning.

According to Lt. Jeff Gordon with the N.C. Department of Public Safety, the wreck occurred south of Garland at about 3:15 a.m.

“A 2006 Ford pickup truck was traveling south on U.S. 701 … (when it) traveled off the road onto the right shoulder where it overturned and struck a tree,” Gordon said.

The driver of the truck, along with three passengers, were killed in the crash. Two others were seriously injured and transported to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville. No identifications have been released

Gordon said investigators believe that alcohol was a factor in this crash.
