— The Bladen County Republican Party will hold its 2017 Convention in the Superior Courtroom of the Bladen County Courthouse in downtown Elizabethtown. Registration is from 6 to 7 p.m. and the Convention will begin at 7 p.m. Precinct meetings will be held at 6:30 p.m. All registered Republicans are encouraged to attend.

March 28

— The Bladenboro Housing Authority Board will have it’s regular meeting at 6 p.m. in the main administrative office located at 117 Main St., Bladenboro. The meeting is open to the public.

April 1

— A benefit for J.T. Higgs will be held at the Bladenboro Historical Building from 4 to 7 p.m; serving BBQ plates prepared by the outstanding Bladenboro Benefit Committee Barbeque Chefs. A bake sale, silent auction, children’s activities, music and more will begin at 2 p.m. Please come and be a part of this effort to help J.T. and his family while he is receiving treatment for Leukemia.

April 4

— The Bladen County Health Department will host an open house from 3 to 6 p.m. There will be free car-seat checks and a story time for children. Also, there will be one-year rabies vaccinations for cats and dogs ($6), health screenings, pet adoptions (dogs $25, cats $15), door prizes, face-painting and much more. — There will be a Backyard/Small Flock Poultry Meeting at 6:30 p.m. at the Bladen County Cooperative Extension Office, located at 450 Smith Circle Drive in Elizabethtown. Topics will include: chick brooding, feeding chickens for egg production, culling standards for egg layers, and money saving ideas for small flocks. Feed and Garden Center will sponsor refreshments. — The Bladen County Democrat Party will hold its annual convention at 10 a.m. in the Superior Courtroom of the Bladen County Courthouse. All supporters of the Democrat Party are encouraged to attend.

— Jones Lake State Park will host its annual Easter Egg Hunt from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., sponsored by the Friends of the Bay Lakes. There will be games, concessions, crafts, prizes and special events.
