Welcome to Bladen Community College! If you are visiting campus as a potential student, please call Student Services at 910-879-5500 before your visit. Student Services can arrange for a campus tour and provide other assistance to ensure your visit is successful. Bladen Community College was established as Bladen Technical Institute on October 5, 1967, and chartered on January 14, 1971, under the authority of North Carolina General Statute 115A. Bladen Community College offers post-secondary certificate, diploma, and degree programs. Presently, the college offers fifteen curriculum programs. Occupational and vocational courses are also offered through continuing education programs. Workforce development is a priority of the college along with numerous programs directed at improving basic skills, advancing economic development, and improving the quality of life of Bladen citizens. Bladen Community College is dedicated to an open door policy, and to meeting the educational and cultural needs of the people of Bladen and surrounding counties. Bladen Community College has experienced unprecedented growth during the past four years. Much of that growth has been through the college's expansion of distance education courses. GENERAL ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS Bladen Community College subscribes to the "Open Door" admissions policy. High School graduation, an Adult High School Diploma, or a High School Equivalency certificate is required for admission to any degree program offered by Bladen Community College. Nongraduates 18 years of age or older may be admitted to any diploma or certificate program. An advisement test, personal interview, and high school transcript are used in determining the student's ability to make satisfactory progress at Bladen Community College. Applicants are evaluated and counseled into programs which are considered most appropriate to meet their needs and objectives, consistent with their aptitudes and expressed interests. Appropriate developmental or remedial support is provided to assist students in overcoming deficiencies in their preparation for collegiate study. Selected high school students may be admitted to appropriate college courses upon approval by the high school principal and the college admissions office. The Vice President of Student Services and staff are responsible for administering all admission policies.
