ELIZABETHTOWN — Lower Cape Fear Hospice will offer a free 90-minute grief workshop, Healthy Coping in Grief. It will be 3 to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9, at LCFH’s Bladen County office, 116 W. Broad St. in Elizabethtown.

“Grieving is a long and difficult process,” Melissa Rogers, LCFH bereavement counselor, said. “In addition to understanding how stress can take a toll on a person physically, emotionally and spiritually, we need to understand practical guidelines to ease the process. This workshop will focus on strategies those grieving can use to help maintain healthy momentum as they proceed through grief.”

Often being around others who have been through a similar experience enables participants to talk about what they are experiencing. Grief groups help emphasize that participants are not grieving alone and others understand and can support them on their grief journeys.

Grief workshops are offered the second Tuesday of each month through December. Each will focus on a specific aspect of grief and the grieving process.

Registration is required. For more information, call 910-515-6689. When leaving a message, please leave your name, phone number and indicate the specific program you wish to attend. Sessions are free. Donations are appreciated. Additional groups will form throughout the year. Grief counseling services are available to LCFH patients’ families, as well as others in the community.
