LUMBERTON — The Robeson County End of Life Coalition will hold a conference on “Caring for a Loved One: From a Twinkle to a Wrinkle” at Wesley Pines on Thursday, April 14, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The conference will address end of life issues throughout the life span-from prenatal to old age. Sessions will cover the causes of infant mortality; childhood and teen concepts of death and grief; pain control and symptom management for adults; and end of life care for people with dementia. A video on how a teen with a terminal disease copes with her fears of undergoing a bone marrow transplant and the personal story of loss from a mother whose young daughter succumbed to kidney disease after unsuccessful liver transplants will reveal how terminal illnesses affects families and friends.
Conference costs are $5 for family caregivers, students and volunteers and $15 for professional staff. Lunch is included.
Call 910-618-5533 to register by phone or go to www.lrcog.org for a registration form. Registration for the conference is due by April 11 and 5.50 continuing education credits from the North Carolina Division of Healthcare Regulation are available.
