School receives special music grant

September 3, 2014

EAST ARCADIA — East Arcadia School is celebrating several new additions for this school year.

The band program was recently awarded 22 instruments through a grant from the Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation. The grant award is valued at more than $10,000 and will serve to replace older school instruments and add to the existing inventory.

The Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation, created in 1996, donates new and refurbished instruments to existing band programs which may lack adequate funding.

East Arcadia School has always been dedicated to offering every interested child the opportunity to learn to play a musical instrument. With the Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation grant, the school can carry out the foundation’s philosophy of “keeping music alive in our schools.”
