LUMBERTON — Sponsored by the Carolina Civic Center Foundation and Carolina Civic Center Historic Theater, a special screening of the documentary film “HOPE” will be held and serve as a fundraiser for 3000 Miles to a Cure on Tuesday, June 24.

A critically acclaimed documentary about Lumberton resident Maria Parker’s 11-day, non-stop 3,000 mile bike ride in RACE ACROSS AMERICA, the film tells the story of Parker’s amazing come-from-behind win after a serious car wreck destroyed her crew’s vehicle and nearly all of her gear.

It is also the story of one sister’s love and devotion to the other.

Parker’s sister Jenny was diagnosed with brain cancer in the fall of 2012 and the documentary follows Maria’s drive and determination to use the race as a means to raise money for and call attention to brain cancer research.

Tickets are $20 each, with 100 percent of the proceeds donated to fund brain cancer research. Tickets can be purchased on-line by clicking the link above, or purchased at the door. Doors open at 6 p.m. for the 7 p.m. screening.

Appetizers, wine and beer are included in the donation price.
