Bladenboro man wins gun raffle
LAKE WACCAMAW — Tim Everette of Bladenboro was the winner of a recent gun raffle at Lake Waccamaw State Park.
The raffle, held May 31 at the park, was to raise money for a 5K run event to be held at Lake Waccamaw in the near future and was deemed a big success.
Everette is expected to pick up his prize at Pawn South in Whiteville.
Summer soccer camps scheduled
ELIZABETHTOWN — Two summer soccer camps for those in third through 10th grades will be held at East Bladen High between June 23-27 and again July 14-18.
The camps will run from 9 a.m. to noon and the cost will be $95 for one camp or $150 to attend both camps.
Participants will receive a T-shirt and soccer ball. Those who attend both camps will also receive a sports bag.

Knights to host football camp
DUBLIN — The West Bladen Knights football program will host its first-ever football camp aimed at those students 7 to 11 years old who will funnel through the school district to West Bladen High.
The camp is being brought to West Bladen by a former Bladenboro High football player who played alongside Dove, Richard Howell, who is now in his 14th year as assistant strength and conditioning coach for the NFL’s Indianapolis Colts.
The free camp, being tabbed as the Richard Howell Football Camp Powered by USA Football, will be held Saturday, June 28, at the Knights’ football field and will run from 9 a.m. to noon. There will be an 8:30 a.m. registration time for anyone who has not previously registered online.
There will be 80 slots available for online registration at http://usafootball.com/fun under the title of “Richard Howell Football Camp.” There will also be a printable waiver that should be signed by a legal guardian and brought to the event.
An additional 70 slots will be available on the day of the camp.
Triathlon schedule has been set
WHITE LAKE — Dates have been set for the 2014 fall triathlons at White Lake.
— The White Lake International Triathon — a 1,500-meter swim, 45K bike ride and 10K run — will be held Sept. 6 starting at 8 a.m.
— The White Lake Dash for Divas Triathlon — a 250-meter swim, 7-mile bike ride and 2-mile run — will be held Sept. 7 starting at 8 a.m.
