Agencies join together for proper pet care

March 10, 2014

ELIZABETHTOWN — The Bladen County Library, Animal Control Board and the Animal Shelter have all joined forces to better educate the community about pet care.

“We need to increase the education and awareness of correct pet care in Bladen County,” said Mike Jackson, president of the Animal Control Board. He reitereated this to Animal Control Board in a recent meeting and all in attendance agreed.

Now, the library in Elizabethtown offers a special section strictly devoted to literature on pet care education as shown in the photo. The Animal Shelter also has informative videos. One video explains how to properly care for a cat and the other video explains the needs of a dog.

The shelter’s Facebook page,, has been helpful in aiding in alerting the public of animals that are at the shelter for adoption, but the page is now including tips and information about pet care.

If you have any questions or ideas on how pet care education may be distributed to our community, please contact the Bladen County Animal Shelter.
