NC REAL, along with local community colleges and cooperative extensions, are hosting four introductory seminars for area farmers and aspiring farmers to learn about what it takes to start or expand an ag-related business and resources available to make their farm-businesses more profitable.
The introductory seminars will be held at Brunswick Community College and Southeastern Community College on Jan. 14. This same seminar will be offered on Jan. 16 at Robeson Community College and Bladen Community College.
Participants will learn about upcoming opportunities to help start or expand their Ag-related businesses. This includes a series of seven free seminars discussing the business side of farming for individuals who have a farm or small plot of land, want to start a farm OR are passing their farm to their children. All types of Ag-related businesses are encouraged to attend. This series will conclude with a regional business plan competition open to individuals in Bladen, Brunswick, Columbus and Robeson counties.
The seminars are made possible through the support of NC REAL, Cooperative Extensions in the above counties as well as the Community Colleges in each county and the NC Bio Ag Center at Robeson Community College. The seminars are a part of the Growing REAL Agriculture Based Entrepreneurship in Southeastern North Carolina funded by the USDA Rural Business Enterprise Grant Program. NC REAL is a nonprofit organization that grows entrepreneurship in North Carolina by training teachers, supporting local entrepreneurship programs, and developing timely, hands-on entrepreneurial curriculum.
The seminars will be held at Brunswick Community College’s Main Campus and Southeastern Community College’s campus on Jan. 14 from 6 to 9 p.m.; and will be offered again at Bladen Community College and Robeson Community College’s campus’ on Jan. 16t from 6 to 9 p.m.
