LUMBERTON — A St. Pauls man was killed during a confrontation in which several people were shot on Sunday afternoon, according to the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office.

The Sheriff’s Office responded to a call at 12:53 p.m. that 36-year-old Chad Lowery had been shot at 182 Doe Trail in Lumberton, according to Maj. Anthony Thompson, chief of detectives for the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office.

Law enforcement found Lowery, who lived on Emma Jane Road, lying dead on the road with a gunshot wound when they arrived, said Thompson.

According to Thompson, there was an altercation at the home involving Lowery, residents of the Doe Trail home and others who accompanied him there. Four people, including Lowery, were shot.

Because the investigation is ongoing, Thompson could not release the names of the other three people, but said they had been taken to Southeastern Regional Medical Center where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries and released.

No arrests have been made, said Thompson.
