Each year the Men’s Club of the Bladen Correctional Facility selects a non-profit organization as the recipient of the club’s internal fundraisers. This year, the group chose to support the Bladen County School System. The club raised money from concession stand sales. Randy Chavis, case manager for the Bladen Correctional Facility and the Men’s Club coordinator, organized the purchase of school supplies for teachers and their classroom. The group donated 21 packs of scissors, eight boxes of markers, 48 packs of glue sticks, nine gallon-size bottles of hand soap, 26 boxes of band-aids, 52 packs of dry erase markers, seven packs of hand sanitizer, and 96 rolls of paper towels. Recently, Chavis presented the items to Valerie Newton, public information officer for Bladen County Schools.
