LUMBERTON – Local accounting firm S. Preston Douglas & Associates, LLP recently joined Robeson Health Care Corporation and other businesses and organizations across North Carolina for the second annual Certified Public Accountant Day of Service.
The event was held on Friday, Sept. 20, and offered CPAs the opportunity to give back to their communities through volunteer service with a charitable organization of their choice.
S. Preston Douglas & Associates, LLP worked with Robeson Health Care Corporation to complete an exterior painting project at Grace Court, a supervised living facility for women dealing with substance abuse issues and their children. A group of 10 CPAs and staff members from the firm participated — including Wanda Singletary from the Elizabethtown office..
S. Preston Douglas & Associates, LLP decided to work with Robeson Health Care Corporation because they provide a variety of preventative health care and substance abuse services vital to the residents of the area.
“Our firm has been fortunate enough to serve clients in this area since 1941 and it is important for us to give back to the community,” said John Grissom, partner.
The Day of Service is sponsored by the North Carolina Association of CPAs. Approximately 2,000 CPAs and staff members from throughout the state participated in this year’s event. The goal of the Day of Service is to allow CPAs to show their dedication to the cities and towns in which they live and to highlight the many ways they give back to their communities on a regular basis.
