Wright benefit set for Saturday

WHITE LAKE — A huge benefit will be held Saturday in White Lake for Wanda and Jimmy “Hippie” Wright.


The events scheduled include:


—A golf tournament at Carolina Sands Golf Course. Registration will begin at 10 a.m. and a shotgun start will begin at 11 a.m. Cost is $75 per player or $300 per team of four, and will include a barbecue meal.


There will also be door prizes and a hole-in-one prize of a GMC Sierra truck donated by Dorman Cadillac/GMC of Dunn.


— A motorcycle ride. Registration will open from 9 to 10:45 a.m. at carter Farms and the ride will start at 11 a.m. Cost is $20 per bike and $5 for each addition rider, and will include a meal.


A pig cooker will be raffled off just before and auction at 4 p.m. at Carter Farms. Raffle tickets are $2 each or three for $5.


— Barbecue plates will be sold from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. (if they last that long) for $7 per plate.


— Boston butts will be on sale for $25 each.


— T-shirts will be sold at each of the events for $10 each.


— 50/50 tickets will be available at all events — with one cash pot awarded for tickets purchased for $5 each and one cash pot for tickets purchased for $1 each. Winners will receive 50 percent of the pots.
