ELIZABETHTOWN — East Bladen rallied from a 2-0 deficit to knot the Wolfpack of Whiteville in a non-conference soccer match on Wednesday.

Whiteville got on the board late in the first half and rode that 1-0 lead into the second half, then doubled the lead with another goal at about the fifth minute of the second half.

But the Eagles answered just a couple of minutes later when Alex Felder made a nice pass behind the defense to Joel Cromartie, who booted home the goal to pull East Bladen within 2-1.

Neither team could convert any scoring chances through a majority of the time remaining until East Bladen a scramble for the ball in front of the Wolfpack net allowed Cromartie to seize control and send a hard shot into the upper corner of the net to tie the match.

The Eagles improved to 3-0-1 on the young season.

— In St. Pauls on Wednesday, the Knights of West Bladen fought out of a 1-0 deficit to take a 2-1 non-conference win against St. Pauls.

The Bulldogs got on the board about 15 minutes into the match and held the lead for nearly 20 minutes before Clay Allen was awarded a direct kick from about 45 yards out. Allen booted the ball just high enough to scrap the fingers of the St. Pauls goalie and find the back of the net to knot the score at 1-1.

Two minutes later, Allen took a pass from Edwin Labra and, after juking a defender, put the ball in the net for the go-ahead goal that stood up.
