ELIZABETHTOWN — Israel Evans, a soccer star at east Bladen High for the past three seasons, is heading to Minnesota for his senior year.
Evans will be taking his soccer skills to Shattuck-St. Mary’s in Faribault, just south of Minneapolis/St. Paul — a boarding school in existence since 1858 that offers college preparatory classes. It also has one of the nation’s top soccer development academies on site.
The Eagles will be losing the top scorer in school history. In just a little more than two full seasons, Evans has tallied 78 goals for East Bladen. He was injured for a large portion of his junior season.
In addition to his announcement that he will play in Minnesota this season, Evans also decided to play his college soccer at N.C. State University beginning in 2014.
