YouthBuild Project DirectorThe Lumber River Council of Governments, a regionalplanning and service agency serving Bladen, Hoke,Richmond, Robeson andScotland Counties, is seeking a YouthBuild Project Director. Performs administrative work in coordinating the YouthBuild Grant for the WorkforceDevelopment Division toinclude, but not limited toadministrative, fiscal control and supervision work.Employee serves as resource and staff to the Lumber River Youth Council. An employee in this class will facilitate,coordinate, develop andimplement the Department of Labor YouthBuild Grant. The local initiative is entitled Project GreenBuild. Directlysupervises two subordinates and oversees the safety and welfare of up to 70 youthparticipants. Work involvescoordinating with localeducational institutions,housing authority, community probation and parole, andothers committed toaddressing education, local employment or housingchallenges. Employee will serve as the lead liaison with contractors, traininginstitutions, employers and community agencies in thedevelopment of effectiveactivities and coordinatingsupportive services. Workincludes development andsubmission of appropriatedocuments and reports to the Lumber River Youth Council, Lumber River WorkforceDevelopment Board andCouncil of Governments. Work is performed independentlyunder the supervision ofWorkforce DevelopmentAdministrator and is evaluated through discussion,observation, and reports.Employee must understand the relationship between the project’s performance goals, program design, and program outcomes and ensure proper recording of program outcomes to maximizeperformance levels.Prefer Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university orcollege in BusinessManagement, PublicAdministration, HumanResources, Social Work,Criminal Justice, or a related field and four years’experience in a related area. An equivalent combination of training and experience may be substituted for the college requirement with relatedexperience that provides for knowledge of businessadministration, occupational requirements, employment and training problems, andpractices similar to thoseencountered in employment or social services agencies. Must be able to pass a background check and possess a valid driver’s license.
