School Board Weighs Options About East Arcadia’s Future

ELIZABETHTOWN - The Bladen County School Board met for their monthly meeting on Monday for some important updates, including school restructuring and realignment. Superintendent Dr. Jason Atkinson presented the board with data collected on the area’s schools over the past month outlining problems and solutions before they stamp a final decision in any type of realignment if deemed necessary.

OVER 300 RUNNERS DESCEND ON LU MIL

ELIZABETHTOWN - The Lu Mil Wine Run 5K hosted over 300 runners Saturday at the Lu Mil Vineyard located at 438 Suggs Taylor Rd in Elizabethtown, on a perfect spring day for a race.

Shriners provide the catch o’ the day

ELIZABETHTOWN – Cars lined the Broad Street in Elizabethtown and the temporary drive-thru fashioned in the parking lot of the Food Lion Wednesday for the annual spring Shriner’s fish fry. As we printed last week, there were no clowns or Fez-wearing men driving little cars, but the Local Shriners were cooking up promises for sick children.

ELIZABETHTOWN – The Elizabethtown-White Lake Chamber of Commerce is holding their April breakfast and special speaker series on April 16 at Ski Burger in White Lake at 8 a.m.

Kiwanis Club meets to decide scholarship recipients

ELIZABETHTOWN - The April monthly meeting of the Bladen County Kiwanis Club met Tuesday and final reads and discussion was made concerning the selection of scholarships for local students.
